Types of Exfoliators

The removal of dead skin cells may be achieved through one of two methods: mechanical exfoliation (such as facial scrubs or microdermabrasion) or chemical exfoliation (e.g. salicylic acid, glycolic acid or fruit enzymes. The best method will depend largely on your skin type; for example, mechanical exfoliation should be avoided by those with red or inflamed skin, whilst those with very sensitive skin should normally avoid chemical exfoliators.
